Upcoming Nebraska Events

Please join us for “Feeding the Future:
A Night of Self and Community Care.”
The Nebraska Chapter of WIPA and The Venue at Highlander will be hosting our first quarter event, a fundraiser for No More Empty Pots, which is soon partnering with The Highlander community. The evening will feature presentations from No More Empty Pots founder and CEO Nancy Williams and Beth Bernstein of Chicago’s SQN Events (WIPA board director and member of the National Society of Black Wedding and Event Professionals). Beth will speak on “Don’t Let This Industry Drive You Crazy,” addressing how the wedding industry pressures vendors to be perfect and how it can lead to anxiety and depression.
The presentations will coincide with a silent auction benefitting No More Empty Pots’ transition into the Highlander building and greenhouse as well as their everyday operations, which help individuals and groups improve self-sufficiency, food security, and economic resilience. Silent auction items will tie the guest speaker and fundraiser together with take-home-ready plants and wellness centric items and services.
The Highlander’s Big Mama’s Kitchen and Dena’s Place will be featured for food and drink and The Downtown Collective band moves us through the night. We hope you can join us for this incredible night of networking, goodwill, and community.
