WIPA Partners with Timothy S.Y. Lam Foundation for Diversity + Inclusion Initiative

(Scottsdale, AZ) — The Wedding International Professionals Association (WIPA) and the Timothy S.Y. Lam Foundationare pleased to announce a partnership to advance diversity and inclusion initiatives in the events industry. The Foundation has committed to an educational grant, which will be used to offer virtual diversity + inclusion education to WIPA members across the US and internationally.

“We are so deeply appreciative of the support from the Timothy S.Y. Lam Foundation as we commit to a continued discussion surrounding diversity and inclusion,” says Meghan Ely, president of WIPA. “Education is one of the main pillars of our focus for our 2021 Diversity + Inclusion Committee. As society evolves, so must the events industry — and we are proud to assist with fostering a community that is welcoming to all.”

Based in Las Vegas, the Timothy S.Y. Lam Foundation has been providing career advancement opportunities for hospitality professionals since 2012. “TSYLF was born out of the recognition of the value in continuing education and we are proud to back WIPA’s D+I initiative to support the many members of its global community,” says Ellen Lam, President of the Timothy S.Y. Lam Foundation. “The partnership aligns with our mission of advancing the industry at large through educational opportunities and we look forward to seeing WIPA shed light on the crucial topic of diversity and inclusion.”

In addition to this partnership, WIPA has recently announced another step towards inclusivity: the formation of the 2021 Diversity + Inclusion Committee, led by D+I International Director Cindy Celis. The D+I speaker will be announced at a later date.
